Geography of Surat
Surat is the second largest city of Gujarat and the most important port city. The ninth largest city of India is located on the banks of the Tapti river with an average elevation of 13 meters. The district of Surat is enveloped by Navsari, Bharuch, Narmada (North and Dang (South) districts. To the west lies the Gulf of Cambay. The city enjoys a tropical climate and receives abundant monsoon rainfall (about 2,500 mm a year).
